How did AMABLOM / Timbali the farm start?
|
|
It was with a vision of an extensive floriculture industry in Mpumalanga and the challenge faced by novice farmers with very little skill, in a highly competitive industry that the Timbali Technology Incubator was initiated in 2002.
Timbali as part of the the STP (SEDA) programme designed an Agri-Business Cluster model to assist apprentice flower growers to overcome these obstacles and introduce them into the mainstream economy.
Timbali started off with 1.2 ha of Gerbera grown by 10 apprentices in 2004.

The number of flower growers steadily increased over the last 5 years and now include more than 30 individuals growing a variety of crops.

AMABLOM / Timbali is situated on Portion 72 Friedenheim Farm just outside of Nelspruit town in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa.
